What do you say? The end of a popular, well-done series.
The beginning, still, perhaps, of an era. It has long seemed inevitable that with competition from all the other modern forms of media, that print, or more importantly, prose, would suffer a long downhill slide that would never kill it, but could make it... 'least among equals' with other artforms.

For the first time in the series, I was able to read the book straight through. I finished it exactly 24 hours after I got the book at the midnight party, only stopping for 3 hours of sleep, to walk the dogs, and for a little food. It was well worth it! I was very disappointed with the conclusion. The way everything came to a head was nice, though the death to life though was a little cliché even if it did work. What an amazing ending to such a series! I could not put it down! It made me happy, sad, and everything in between all at once. I can't believe the series is over, but what JK has done for children's books and reading all around is amazing. Read the whole series and look in between the lines for what she is saying.

I'm not a big JKR fan, as her writing style is just not my cup of tea most days, but the style gets better in the latter half of the series. On book 7, while some things were predictable, she threw in enough surprises to make it interesting reading. Good brain candy. ;-)

Sometimes it was Harry Potter and the silly plot devices, but it ended it for me in a satisfying way, more or less.

I couldn't put down this excellent ending to Rowling's Harry Potter series.
