Philip Pullman, you don't play fair! :^)
You ended The Golden Compass at a pretty good point, there was both a sense of looking forward and resolution. *However*, the end of this novel was a DEFINITE cliffhanger. Thank goodness I checked all 3 books out of the library at once - I'd have hated to have been on tenterhooks waiting for the third volume. although slightly less interesting than book 1, this is still an excellent continuation of the series. weaves our world and book 1's together, laying the groundwork for book 3. very enjoyable and definitely ends in such a way that book 3 must be procured immediately!

The end of The Golden Compass was such an awesome cliffhanger that I had to go and buy books 2 and 3. This series just gains momentum and is such a phenomenal ride! Fantasy fans won't want to miss this one!!!
