I don't know what held me back from reading this book other than Sci-fi isn't one of my favorite genre's.
But I did enjoy the movie and the book...let's just say the Movie is in it's own world, it isn't even close.
Great book, solid read with to me, the only slow parts being the anti-marxism and communism tirades he goes into in the History and Military Protocol classes....it seemed like fluff to me.
The fact I read this in less than day should tell you something about it. ...more

Heinlein at near his best. Good military SF with some interesting political ideas thrown in, eg flogging for crimes, limited voting rights. Note the Hispanic hero in a book written in 1959.

Good Read.
I watched the movie (in the past) before reading this book. The movie takes away some names and some of the plot. The book has powered armor vs the spider type creatures.
