I am a huge fan of Jennifer Weiner, so despite being less than impressed by her most recent release before this one (Certain Girls), I was wholeheartedly looking forward to this book.
I would characterize Jennifer Weiner's books as women coming of age stories as opposed to the term "chick lit," which, to me, implies vapid characters and contrived plotlines. I really enjoyed this book. It was fun, light and quirky. This book has it all, mystery, family and most of all friendship. All the twist and turns all three take kept me reading almost nonstop. In the very beginning a crime is committed and it drew me in. I had to know why it happened and who did it. I purposely kept this book for vacation so I wouldn't have to quit reading. It didn't disappoint. I sink into Weiner's characters and don't want to leave their world.

This was not one of my favorite Jennifer Weiner books, but the story did end on a positive note. There were some strange twists to the story that I didn't really enjoy - like the strange religious lady that picked up Dan, it was a little creepy. And did she really have to make Addie's family story so depressing and lonely?
I think it seemed like she left the book open to a sequel at the end so hopefully its a more upbeat book than this was. ...more

I'm a Jennifer Weiner fan, so for this reason I gave this book a 3 star rating. I'm not really sure it deserves it from a normal reader though. She is getting very predictable in her writing and it's starting to get old - overweight girl who struggles, finds a great guy guy and usually a baby involved with a happy ending. But I keep reading so she must be doing something right!

I thought this was kind of predictable (I figured out who Addie would end up with long before it happened.) Her best friend Val annoyed me a lot of the time. It's not bad, just not my favorite Weiner book.
