Finally, the epilogue book in the Lords of Deliverance story, where all the pieces fit together and the backstory of Yenrieth and Verrine is explored. (view spoiler)

I liked but didn't love this book. The first part seemed very brutal with a lot of description of our hero and heroine escaping from Hell and flashbacks to episodes of torture. And a lot of verbal sparing, it just didn't work for me. Once the truth of their pasts ...more

This book should have been called The Angels or Harvester and Reaver. It was more Harvester's story than it was Reaver's story.

We first met Reaver working in Underground general as a fallen angel/being without a past to speak off. Then we saw his journey to redemption as he sacrificed himself to save the world with Wraith, earning his wings back. Now we know he was an angel, a watcher and a father.

This was History. Through Harvester's retelling of her past, we learn that she was originally an angel named Verrine who volunteered to enter Sheoul as a spy in order to watch out for her ex-lover's children as he was gone. No one knew what happened to Yenrieth and Verrine decided to atone for a transgression she committed against Yenreith by dedicating her life to watching out for the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

In that last book, we learned that Reaver was the father, thus Reaver is Yenrieth. Through the dual POV, Yenreith and Verrine take on us the journey of their past, explaining how they became Reaver and Harvester.
Their stroll down memory lane was also a form of catharsis as they finally confront that attraction they have fighting for so long.

The present also shows us how the Archangels have been using everyone as pawns in the power play of how will control Heaven, Earth and Sheoul. Satan wants to re-enter Heaven using Lucifer as his power base. The four horsemen are protecting the earth, and the Archangels are protecting themselves.

I had a major problem with Archangel Rafael's reason for attacking Yenreith. It seemed too petty for such a high being. But then I realized, that Ione was humanizing the angels. The angels were petty, arrogant and power hungry. They blurred the lines between good and evil because they did evil things in the name of good. That is why I know Ione will redeemed Revenant. She did it with Reseph and Harvester, so I look forward to her presentation of the sheoul watcher.

Ione is one of my favorite writers because she tells a great story. She took time to lay a foundation, and then she built the world. I hated Harvester from the moment I met her, but she was so likable in this book. It was my least favorite book in the Demonica world, but it was still a good read.

4.5 stars. I'd been dying for Reaver's book, and it did not disappoint! Reaver and Harvester have one twisted backstory, and it takes them quite a while to trust each other; even so, there's a mysterious bond between them that neither can ignore (and the reason for it is gradually revealed).

As usual, the sexual chemistry is smoking hot, and the conflicts and turmoil they get embroiled in are full of twists and turns. Larissa Ione has one hell of an imagination (pun fully intended!) and it's on ...more

I have been waiting what feels like forever to read this book. Lately, when I am over eager to get a new installment in a series I have been reading, I have been disappointed. But not with this book. Reaver lived up to all my expectations and even surpassed them. I'm not sure why, but I was thinking this might be the last book in the series so you can imagine how happy I was when it became clear as I was reading that Ms. Ione is not done with these wonderful characters.

I had forgotten just how much I really love this series. It's been a while since I read the last Demonica and Horseman books, but I was able to jump back into their world very easily with this book. I love Reaver. He is an awesome character - flawed, but he owns his mistakes. He doesn't try to foster off the blame onto someone else. And I love that. I even loved Harvester in this one.

A great addition to the series in my opinion. I can't wait for the next one! ...more

While this book was great I still missed the horsemen especially Thanatos! My feelings for Harvester have waffled throughout these books but I did end up really liking her. Reaver was awesome as usual and it was cool to be in his head for a while. Their story reminded me of Romeo and Juliet lol. I can't wait to read Revenant's book, love when an author does the bad boy lead :) ...more

I have been waiting to read Reaver’s and Harvester’s story for quite a while now...and it did not disappoint! Since the beginning of the series, Reaver has been an interesting part of this world...even though he was kind of an ass in the beginning.
