This novel was storytelling at it's finest. I have always enjoyed Emma Scott's work, but this book is on another level of greatness. I was moved to tears but I smiled a lot at the same time. Many of us take for granted the unconditional love we receive from our families. Affirmation isn't freely given to those who don't fit into the mold that parents or society doesn't see as normal. Loved this! Although it wasn't an ES favourite (for me), she still delivers each story full of so many emotions. Both Silas and Max had a really rough road to where they ended up. There were some things that didn't sit well with me, but it was still an awesome read ;) ...more

4.5 stars. It would have been 5 but for one thing (view spoiler). Loved the love story and how Silas & Max were there for each other and together they overcame their past. Great secondary characters, especially Eddie! Well written, great plot development, evenly paced. This was my first book by Ms. Scott, but i can't wait to read more. ...more
