Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children was a delightful read. I thought the author was clever in writing a story that centered around some very unusual old photographs of children. This story reminded me of a cross between a Harry Potter story and the X-Men comic characters.

The physical book itself is beautiful. It's a bound art piece. The photos included are (according to an acknowledgment at the back of the book by the author) authentic, and the story developed to include them. They're somewhat disturbing on their own, and definitely add to the creepiness of the book.

Maybe I just thought this was something different than it was, thus making me hate it? The photos were cool but the storyline was not there. I could not keep track of all the children, plus their "power." I didn't appreciate the sci-fi elements and I just feel the author was reaching to try and make a story to fit these weird pictures he had.
