I found this enjoyable enough I could see looking up the two other books in this trilogy, although I'm not moved to rush to the bookstore to pick them up, and in that my reaction is reminiscent to the other Feist book I've read, Magician: Apprentice also set in this universe. I believe that other book was among the first Feist ever wrote, and I do find Talon a better, smoother read than I remember that book being. This was an entertaining book. The characters were engaging and the plot fairly action packed. My only criticism of this book is that some of the scenes were rather boring and did not really have bearing on the plot as a whole. For example, the many pages that describe Talon learning how to paint. While this was probably intended to convey that he was learning many different things that he wasn't used to before but what the result was a rather boring scene that leaves the reader wondering "why a ...more
