I have to idea why I waited so long to read (well listen) to this. Sooooo good.
I saw this movie back in junior high I think. My parents put us all through an Alfred Hitchcock phase, Vertigo, Rear Window, The Man Who Knew Too Much, (hmm...maybe it was a Jimmy Stewart phase) and this one was included but I either fell asleep or just totally forgot the ending because I was totally surprised when I finished the book. Das Buch wird auf dem Buchrücken als "der Klassiker der Unterhaltungsliteratur angepriesen", als ein Buch, dessen Popularität nur mit Vom Winde Verweht zu vergleichen sei. Meiner Meinung nach ist ein Vergleich der beiden Bücher jedoch arg an den Haaren herbeigezogen. Mag ja sein, dass beide äußerst erfolgreiche Erstlinge junger Frauen gewesen sind. Hier enden dann aber schon die Gemeinsamkeiten!

I really had a hard time liking the main character but I guess keeping in mind the time period her reactions were somewhat realistic. I really enjoyed the mysterious twist, and it actually kept me guessing to some degree at the end. Not bad, but not a page turner.
One of my most favorite books I have ever read. It is truly a classic that I read once every so often. Love how the story flows
