Aku mau memberinya 3 bintang tapi batal karena selesai membaca buku ini pikiranku muter-muter terus dan berakhir pada kesimpulan betapa kerennya tokoh-tokoh perempuan di buku ini: Miss Rose, Eliza, Paulina, Lin, Mama Fresia, Joe, Esther dan lain-lain. Mau jadi apa para pria di buku ini tanpa para perempuan tersebut. Walaupun di satu sisi ada pula cerita mengenaskan tentang para singsong girls. I really enjoyed this book--better than the author's previous House of Spirits book. It is a story about family, classism and racism all in one. I thought the ending was a surprise, though and wished it had gone on a little more...

I would have given this book 4 stars but I wanted a little more closure. I liked the characters and the writing and look forward to reading more of her work.
