This book completely blew me away, as it did a lot of folks at the time. Brilliantly researched, incredibly detailed and completely believable. Ayla is one of the most remarkable heroines ever. It has been 26 years, but this book I DO remember.

When I think about this book, I have to smile. I think it was the first "adult" novel I ever actually read. My 9th grade English teacher gave it to me and then was terribly disappointed when she found out I was passing it around in the cafeteria so all my friends could read the sex scenes. Oops! Some day, I'll have to go back and read the whole series again. I have such fond memories of it all though, I'm afraid re-reading it now would be disappointing.
