This book is really fantastic, a tent pole of the sci-fi genre. And with good reason - the world that Herbert builds is engrossing and deep. I could see how many science fiction successors have tried to emulate him. The Fremen are an extremely interesting people, as is the set-up between the Emperor and the other Great Houses. I had heard a lot about this series and this one has been on my to read list for too long. Though the book is generally classified under science fiction, the book disappoints in its science aspects and is more notable for its rather convincing futuristic perspective. the author talks about an universe where space travel has become possible, but is under the monopoly if a single group, computers and thinking machines are no longer in use post a rebellion in the distant past and specialised human
