This book is really fantastic, a tent pole of the sci-fi genre. And with good reason - the world that Herbert builds is engrossing and deep. I could see how many science fiction successors have tried to emulate him. The Fremen are an extremely interesting people, as is the set-up between the Emperor and the other Great Houses. An epic in every sense...
However, it is difficult to read Dune and not visualise Kyle Maclachlan, Sting or Patrick Stewart.
