This is an exceptional story. I hate small-minded, homophobic little towns that are all about judging. There are still far too many of those places left in this world.

The characters in this book were deep, endearing, emotional. I wanted to roll my sleeves up and jump into the fight of everyday life with them. Keep them from harm. So, I suppose if this was written well enough to make me want to shield fictional characters, it's definitely a damned good write.

I'm not going to insert any spoilers h

3/24/14 -- a slightly less rambly version of the 3/22
So, I agree with Emma. I did like it, but I also came out of it feeling vaguely dissatisfied. I was skimming through it, trying to figure out what it was, and I'm still hard-pressed to say exactly what. That was basically me in the previous one, trying to figure out why, not being able to pin down exactly why, and searching for possible external factors.

Daniel Whitlock has a problem: he walks in his sleep. And talks, draws, screws, and kills in his sleep. Even more frustrating, he recalls nothing when he is finally awake. After serving his time for sleep-killing the man who bashed him within an inch of his life, Daniel returns to his small, South Carolina hometown where he is universally despised, but comparatively safe. There is security in the familiar, even if it grinds him down to a spiritual nub.

But he is lonely in his isolation, and despe

Another 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️read!

The time is 4.23am and I just finished the book..I'm glad I didn't wait til tomorrow to finish it! I am equally overwhelmed and calm after reading about Daniel's struggle and journey. I felt so much for him..to not be aware of your actions while sleepwalking, to be abused and taken advantage of and still be brave enough to face another day is just gut-wrenching. I'm glad that Daniel and Bel found each-other.. Bel's ability to not be judgemental and his sincerity makes me

Like most people of have said this was an extremly dark book yet there were times there was a sweetness to it too. Not a hearts and puppies but one person trying really hard to take care of another with small intruludes of love. There were a lot of complex threads to this story and it didn't try to make a perfect pat ending to make everyone feel good. Each character wavered on what they want and how to get it. I liked that this wasn't just an insta-love that didn't deal with any of the problems ...more
