What Members Thought

Beautifully written, insanely clever, horribly uncomfortable. I loved huge large swaths of this book and wanted to hide from the rest. I'm not quite sure whether that's an endorsement or a warning. I can't remember the last time I felt this conflicted over a book.
This is a sparkling but sometimes ugly story about a not-very-nice man who falls in love with someone he simultaneously puts on a pedestal and sees as beneath him. I was never wholly convinced Ash deserved Darian, but found their relat ...more

Amazin... truly amazin!
Ash, writer, bi-polar and depressed, fears to love and fears to be loved! He hurts his friends and those that love him, because he is to afraid to give himself and to accept others!
And there is also Darian! What a fantastic character! Simple and naive, he accepts Ash as he is and his illness... Could it be so easy to Ash!
Read Darian's Essex accent was interesting and there are situations really funny!
Babes, you're gonna love this book!!!

Book 2014 (5 stars): Utterly brilliant. Loved.
Audiobook 2025 (4 stars): I’ll admit that it was a different experience the second time around. Maybe was the difference between a book and an audiobook? Maybe it was more about changing tastes?
I first read Glitterland in 2014 and, wow, I was smitten. This time around, the sheer level of angst, the fact that I’ve fallen out of love with stories that focus on a relationship (and maybe the brilliant performance by the narrator bought this home), hampe ...more

What in the world took me so long to read this? (The cover. One of the worst covers ever.) I shouldn't have let it discourage me.
This was a beautiful story. Ash, our main character, is trapped in the prison of his own anxious, bipolar/depressed mind, and he hasn't found a thing -- prescription medication, sex, friendship, ambition -- that can release him from its hold. But one crazy night, he finds Darian -- a glittering, tacky, gorgeous, sweet, non-cynical man with an unfiltered approach to joy ...more

First of all I've got to thank Edub82 for the recommendation and for lending this ebook.
Thank you so much. :)
This is usual not the M/M type of read that I enjoy but I really like it. It was different and super sweet and adorable. It felt real and I felt like I really understood Ash in someways. Specially regarding his anxiety.

I wanted to like this one but the accent was just too much for me. There were just to many time where I had to re-read a line several times to make out what Darian was saying. I didn't enjoy it, I didn't like the authenticity, I was just frustrated. I'm not a huge fan of British stuff anyway and I didn't get the Essex's thing so it just didn't appeal. Ash was an interesting character but I think this would have been better served with the beginning of his story with Nick and Max then this book f
