This book, babes. Lie-kit. It's real special.
This is my first time listening to a book narrated by Nicholas Boulton. It was brilliantly done. I can't judge whether the different English accents were accurate, but they sounded great, and fit each individual character. I'm pretty sure that if I was reading the book as opposed to listening, I would have had to put in effort to understand the Essex accent. It was easy to close my eyes and just let myself enjoy the narration and story.

This was freaking incredible. Wow, just wow!
I have had this book for so long, since just after it was released actually, and even though I knew I would like it (what an understatement!) every time I began it, I struggled to get into it and was unable to get past the scene where Niall picks Ash up in the middle of the night (about 5 pages in). Not because it was bad, or even a struggle to read, but because I worried about the mindset I needed to be in to read this book. Well today I bit the bulle ...more

What in the world took me so long to read this? (The cover. One of the worst covers ever.) I shouldn't have let it discourage me.
This was a beautiful story. Ash, our main character, is trapped in the prison of his own anxious, bipolar/depressed mind, and he hasn't found a thing -- prescription medication, sex, friendship, ambition -- that can release him from its hold. But one crazy night, he finds Darian -- a glittering, tacky, gorgeous, sweet, non-cynical man with an unfiltered approach to joy ...more

I wanted to like this one but the accent was just too much for me. There were just to many time where I had to re-read a line several times to make out what Darian was saying. I didn't enjoy it, I didn't like the authenticity, I was just frustrated. I'm not a huge fan of British stuff anyway and I didn't get the Essex's thing so it just didn't appeal. Ash was an interesting character but I think this would have been better served with the beginning of his story with Nick and Max then this book f
