I'm not usually a reader of Fantasy, especially in the M/M genre, but come on, this is Aleksandr Voinov. If someone can bring about my change of heart it was him.
I won't even attempt to summarize the story for you because I will fail miserably at it. There were too many details, so many great scenes and awesome characters for me to do it justice.

First: I LOVE this cover. It's perfect. (And I have a thing for tall, dark, and blue eyes.) Anyway...
So, the story starts us out with Kendras, an injured mercenary who has been sent away from the battle (so that the King doesn't have to pay the mercenaries for their service) and separated from his unit, the Scorpions. When I grow up I want to write books this satisfying.
Scorpion worked wonderfully for me both as erotica and as a military fantasy adventure. The sex was rough and hot and nuanced, with a lot of characterization accompanying the hotness. The fighting and politicking were exciting page-turners. The often-grim content was neither glossed over nor overwrought -- a hard balance to pull off.
