Okay. This book is well-written, and the love for place really shines through and gives it some beautiful moments. But so much of the book is about the dissolution of Chris's relationship with Jo that it was hard for me to get past that. There's a point in the novel where Chris is trying to enjoy the scenery of an island they're visiting and he can't relax into it because he keeps thinking about whether Jo is mad at him; I felt like that's what I was feeling the whole time I was reading. The book was well written and the scenery was beautifully visualized. The ghost mystery, and the story would have been worth at least 3 stars...

....However, I couldn't get passed how much of a wet blanket (or noodle) Chris was when it came to Jo. This did not appeal to me at all - and neither did Chris and Jo's "relationship" (which really, it wasn't). I feel there is so much left unresolved for Chris (I.e. Grow a pair and tell Jo to f**k off!!!!). I've never been this a ...more
