Contestants for Miss Teen Dream crash onto a tropical island where the remaining girls must band together to survive. This is campy, over-the-top satire disguised as YA chick lit. I'm ranking this book a 2.5. It seems that you either like or don't like this book. When I was almost done, I started checking the reviews and found that to be true. I was in the didn't really like category. Finishing it alone was a huge feat for me, much like the book of "Skippy Dies" which was so hard for me. This one had a lot more interest than that one. HFS, this is absolutely hysterical. Well-written, and while it could have easily been a one-note “let’s bash pageants!” and “girl power!” kind of a book, it flies over that line and is just kick-ass. The teen characters are believable and the storyline is an adventure. And there were more sections than I could count that made me snort-laugh. Brilliant. Such a fun, and brilliant read.

I REALLY ENJOYED THIS SATIRE. THE CHARACTERS WERE STEREOTYPICALLY OVER THE TOP, AND I HAD TO LAUGH OUT LOUD. THE COMMENTS ABOUT PRODUCTS, THE INDIVIDUAL GIRLS WHO START OUT BEIING MORE ALIKE IN THE BEGINNING AND THEMSELVES IN THE END, AND THE GENERAL GIRL POWER ALL DONE IN A CARTOONY WAY WAS REALLY HYSTERICAL. THE ONLY TEDIOUS THING FOR ME WAS THAT I THOUGHT THE DENOUEMENT TOOK FOREVER. A FUN READ.
