t took me about 20% into this book before I got hooked, and boy did I ever. I immediately purchased the next 4 books in the series, and I’m awaiting the 6th book now. I have recommended this book to a ton of my friends.
The book starts out with an innocent bonfire and some exploration by our main girl Perry….little did she know who or what she was going to find……
“Somehow, by dealing with the dead, I had never felt so alive.”

Darkhouse is really unlike any other book that i've read before. I have to admit that i'm new to the horor or thriller book scene mainly because after I gave birth to children those things that went bump in the night really did scare me so much more. So as a genre, I simple avoided those books that would give me goosebumps. Well, i've been missing out. Darkhouse is the first book in the Experiment in Terror series and i'll admit at times I was scared but most of this book is just pure fun.

I started this book already exhibiting the characteristics of a wuss. I love a good scare and creepy tales. I eat them up like a starving woman but they also scare the shit of out me. I share this affliction with my husband. It's what bonds us and he had just shared with me his recent findings of the black eyed children phenomena . So I was on edge thinking these...

Dammit! I actually hate horror type books, because my horror threshold is ridiculously low (after watching "Scream", I couldn't sleep for two days...yes, I'm THAT much of a wimp). But I loved Karina Halle's "Sins & Needles" that I was willing to give this book a try.
If you find Walking Dead and American Horror Story terrifying, this will scare the beejesus out of you (it did me. Yes, I'm the biggest wimp in all of wimp-land)...but it's still SO SO SO WORTH IT.

I'm so happy I read this!! I love Perry!! She's awesome. She feels so relatable: The way she talks about her past and how hard life has been for her through her experiences with drugs, weight issues, her current job and having no purpose. She makes no excuses for her past and I really liked that about her! Dex, well what can, I say he really threw Perry for a loop! He's odd and mysterious. I can just image how he looks with his maniac face. There's so much more to find out about him and his conn

Okay, I can say I loved this book more the 2nd time so I'm adding another star!! Knowing what I know about Dex & Perry made it even better!
I had forgotten about Perry's hilarious inner dialog (lustful meth-addicted rapists, imaginary friends AND enemies) and how much I adored Dex right from the start. You can tell there is something happening between these two and it is so fun to feel it build!!!

This book took me a little while to get into but somewhere around the halfway point I could not put it down. I am completely hooked on the series! I tried to go to sleep several times and kept turning over to continue reading. I love that both Perry and Dex are so real and so flawed! Half the time I am so pissed at Dex and then he does or says something that makes me want to hug and kiss him. Perry is a normal girl. She thinks she is overweight/fat when she isn't, she is doing a job that she has

I got this book free on my nook and I would have never guessed it would be such a good read. The experiment in terror series is a must read. I have read them all and can't wait for the next one to come out.

4.50 Stars. Darkhouse is a tremendous start to the Experiment in Terror series. As I was reading, I could feel emotions come off the page - written words which conveyed terror, urgency, and confusion and a sense that I had to see what happened next. I really like the dynamic between Perry and Dex, I can already sense that something is brewing between the two of them. Looking forward to seeing where Karina Halle takes these two in their ghostly adventures!

I love books about haunted places and at first I thought this was going to be your typical haunted story. But it's so much more, the bantering and tension between Perry and Dex really give the book life. To be an indie author Karina Halle has a great imagination and keeps the reader interested. The book takes off right away and then you just can't put it down!!
