This year's Classic....
I'll be honest from the start, I would never choose to read a Classic, I find them dated and slow, and rather pretentious. However, for some reason, book groups seem to feel a need to foist one on me every so often and their latest offering was Rebecca. "Oh no, you'll love it." they said. Oh no, I won't! Actually, 3 stars isn't bad a for a Classic, Lolita fared worse.

I read and enjoyed this book a lot but I'm not entirely sure why, as I generally do not like suspense a great deal. I think I liked the promise of this amazing life with this handsome rich man and being mistress of his castle but with this underlying fear surrounding us throughout the book. My favourite part was the ending which really gave it a realistic feel - life works in mysterious ways.

Did I enjoy this book? Yes and I would like to watch the movie adaptation of it and never learn her name ...more
