Shelves: classics, sci-fi, novellas-etc, two-and-a-half-stars

I think my expectations were a little too high for this one.

The War of the Worlds was my first encounter with H.G. Wells, and I really hope I enjoy some of his other works more than this one. I think it was the POV that made it so difficult for me to get through and enjoy, because the narrator bored me to tears a few times.

I think I expected it to be more of a story about humans fighting against martians after an invasion (which was in the story, kind of), but it was more like a diary of one guy ...more

As with some Classics, this could have been written in about 100 pages, rather than more than twice as much.
The middle was tedious. It droned on and the actions wasn't particularly interesting.
BUT the overal sentiment was adorable. The protagonist was beautiful and the language was fantastic.
