What Members Thought
I read this for my British Literature course. We focused on the allegory and the context of the story within history (imperialism). We discussed how the Congo represented Mother Nature or the Id and a return to the true nature of man. Marlowe as a failed hero and Kurtz as an anti-hero. Given this guidance from my professor, I believe I was able to really appreciate the story more than I might have without the course.
