I’ve never heard about or read a book like this one. Orlando is an experience, the entire novel is a single sentence, a boat ride on stormy seas, a gust of wind creating music from the shaking leaves and grass. I can’t really describe how it makes me feel, only because it makes me feel so many things.
So far, I’ve only read A Room of One’s Own by her, but Virginia Woolf’s voice as an author is perhaps my favorite. She writes like a companion, someone you can trust to be completely defenseless wi ...more

This book was like Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland all rolled into one person who lived in our world. Even the writing style resembles the dreamlike tone of the other two stories. It was a delicious read.

lmfao midway through, I thought, man, if they make a movie of this, it Tilda Swinton would definitely have to play Orlando

Turns out there is one, and she does (watch the trailer. just bonkers)

Okay. Hm. This was.... perplexing, honestly. This was still an enjoyable read, peppered throughout with witty psych observations and little side-comments. Plenty of sly meta and fourth-walling:

After just finishing the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy this book is similar in many ways.
Interesting towards the end as I read the last 2 hrs via an audio book digging bait on Talacre beach.
I was the only one there as I'm sure I would have had some comments otherwise 😜. ...more
