What can I say about this book and author that hasn't been said before?
I love this series, this would have to be my favourite new series (well new to me) that I've read this year, and Armentrout is fast moving up my list of all-time favourite authors.
I love the characters in this series Alex and OMG Aiden! I love him and there's nothing I like better than reading stories with a forbidden romance included.

I love the characters in this series Alex and OMG Aiden! I love him and there's nothing I like better than reading stories with a forbidden romance included.

Alex is back at the Covenant, her Uncle is now Dean and subsequently let's her know where she stands, if she can't get up to par in her training (having missed three years after being on the run with her Mum) by the time school starts she'll either become a Pure's slave or be thrown out.
So Aiden a Pure and a Sentinel, and who Alex has had a crush on for years (but because she's a Half-Blood and he's a Pure they can never be together) is to train her and get her up to speed.
"Down the hall is a gym. You should visit it... often." My mouth dropped open. "You're far too skinny. Right now a ten-year old could take yo u."
I love the banter between these two and I have so many favourite quotes I could add to this review, instead I'll just add a few.
"You need to work on your upper body strength, Alex. Not your motor speech skills."
I glanced down at the dumbbell and pictured it flying across the room-at his face. But it was such a nice face, and I'd hate to ruin it.
"Alex stop staring at me and do some cardio." He flipped another page. I blinked. "I hope that book of yours is on charm and personality skills."
I propped myself onto my elbows, scowling. "How come you smile when you knock me down?" He offered his hand. "It's the little things that make me happy."
These two have such amazing chemistry together, and even though you know that they can't be together, I did nothing but wish for it the whole book through, and fingers crossed my wishes will eventuate and I will be an extremely happy girl!
The fact that you know that Alex and Aiden belong together makes it harder to wait, but I'm positive that somehow they will find a way.
We also have the arrival of Seth the Apollyon (a Half-Blood who has all the elemental powers plus a fifth one), at the Covenant, he will end up changeing Alex's life forever!
Alex and Seth have quite a few of their own hilarious comments.
"Um... sorry, I didn't see you." "Obviously. You were staring at the ground as if it had done something terrible to you."
I shot him a warning look. "I don't care if you can shoot lightening from your hand. I will kick you in the face."
I could go on and on with all of the quotes I loved in this book, Armentrout's writing is simply fantastic and I can't seem to get enough.
There were so many twists and turns in this book which kept the story fresh and exciting, and had me rushing through the pages.
I can't recommend this book highly enough, please do yourselves all a favour and pick this series up, you won't be sorry!

INCREDIBLE BOOK...just incredible. I could not put it down. It never stopped. It was non stop, page turning action. Jennifer Armentrout is AMAZING and has blown me away with this book. I am so ready for the next one. I am a Greek Mythology FAN and this book makes taking Latin in high school seem cool ")

I am afraid that I will not do this book justice. I read this book so fast. I did not put it down. Half Blood takes the WOW factor to a whole new level...the HOLY CRAP level for real! What author ...more

This is such a wonderful book.

I started reading this book and didn't understand a word. It didn't caught my attention. So I read Daimon and fell in love with this series.

Alex proves to be a powerfull woman when her mother died and had to find her way back to the Covenant. She's defined as an independent woman and the author keept her essense in the book. (view spoiler) ...more

I was kind of excited, the promise of mythology in the book really picking my interest. So imagine my surprise when I started reading the Vampire Academy with a different cover and some terms changed.

I have had this for Review since way back last year. I know terrible! I decided it was time to read it and after so many of my friends telling me it is amazing I had to read it. However, even though I did find it a good book and hard to put down. I was disappointed with it.

Half-Blood had the potential to be amazing. The premise sounded unique and exciting. With the Greek Mythology kickass characters and forbidden love it should have been epic. However, it wasn't as unique as I thought it would I have had this for Review since way back last year. I know terrible! I decided it was time to read it and after so many of my friends telling me it is amazing I had to read it. However, even though I did find it a good book and hard to put down. I was disappointed with it.

Half-Blood had the potential to be amazing. The premise sounded unique and exciting. With the Greek Mythology kickass characters and forbidden love it should have been epic. However, it wasn't as unique as I thought it would be. I have read this story before in the form of Vampire Academy. The similarities between this and VA was just too much. I felt like it was VA but with characters names being changed and vampires took out and pures and half-bloods put in. There is even certain scenes that felt like it was took right out the VA series. And that is the reason why this was a major let down. Personally I don't mind with books a few similarities but this was just too many.

However, and this is a big however, I did overall still find this to be a good book. There was just something about the book that kept me reading. It took me a while to get into but once I did, I honestly couldn't put it down. I was hooked on it. And I think it was the chemistry between Alex and Aiden. It's not that instalove that's in most books. It slowly develops over the course the book. Even though Alex has always had a crush on Aiden. But the tension between them builds to the point it boils over and they can't fight it. And of course the fact It's forbidden made it all the more exciting to read.

I am looking forward to reading book 2 and I only hope its better than this in terms of moving away for the VA story because Jennifer is a talented writer and a lot of potential. So do I recommend this? Yes, I still do. I think a lot of people would enjoy this. And Jennifer has a massive fan base who all adore her books. Just be wary with the VA similarities.
