It's not a novel, it's a journalistic summary, full of repeated (over and over) lists of things in some of the characters's past and things we take for granted.
A long critique of our first-world problems set in a post-apocalyptic world (where natural dangers are forgotten and non-existent, and even if humans almost went extinct, they are the one and only dominant species apparently). ...more

A really beautifully written and enthralling book. Very little plot as such, but the fascination comes from suspense at how these very different characters, both before and after the apocalypse, will be connected. Like Cloud Atlas this is a book about how there are ties that bind us even when we aren’t aware of them.
I read this in basically one sitting.

This is an apocalyptic/post-apocalyptic story that follows five different characters that are interconnected. The book is well written and the story thoughtfully told. I think the beginning is strong. I was a little uninterested by all the details in the story and thought the suspense was a bit uneven. The bit of insight into Clarks work was fun though.
