I'd like to give this 2.5 stars. I had picked it up a couple of times in the book shop but I also kept putting it down, I eventually bought it on the strength of io9's recommendation as well as many of the comments on that site. And I really enjoyed the last book they raved about - We Are Completely Beside Ourselves.

Surprising since the very beginning.
