Younger me might have been blown away by this. Current me got bored at the faux-literary smugness of it all. I usually don't enjoy "concept novels," and this was conceptual to an extreme. I did enjoy telling people about it - how the physical words mirror what is happening in the story. That part was kind of fun. But the "mystery" behind it all...well, I couldn't care. There is nothing else out there like this book. It can, and will, fuel endless discussions, a whole lot of theories, and it will never, ever leave you. It may take you a long time to get through, but in the end it is very, very worth it, because you will never, ever forget it, nor find a book like this one. Truly unique, deeply disturbing, extremely creepy and very sweet. You will never look at books, nor houses, the same way again.
