The basic idea behind the "ancillary" system is grotesque and fascinating, but this book doesn't do too much with it. Of the dual storylines, the one with Seivarden is horribly dull - in fact it is fair to say that nothing of consequence happens during that thread. The other storyline is more interesting but doesn't amount too much.
