The first section is a bit equivocal. Who is this character? What are these event she is referring to?

The basic idea behind the "ancillary" system is grotesque and fascinating, but this book doesn't do too much with it. Of the dual storylines, the one with Seivarden is horribly dull - in fact it is fair to say that nothing of consequence happens during that thread. The other storyline is more interesting but doesn't amount too much.
I think this book would have been more interesting from the POV of the conquered planets / civilizations. ...more
