I think this is the lowest I've ever rated a Nora Roberts book. To be fair, it took me twice as long to finish as I usually take because of school, so maybe I'll reread it one day and give it another chance.

I think my main problem is that the majority of the book is about vineyards, wine, the wine-making process, family history, family drama, scandal, etc. There is very little going on in the romance department, and what is happening isn't even between the main characters, Sophia and Tyler. I re I think this is the lowest I've ever rated a Nora Roberts book. To be fair, it took me twice as long to finish as I usually take because of school, so maybe I'll reread it one day and give it another chance.

I really enjoyed the first part of the book but around half-way through I started getting pretty bored.

Pilar and David were more main romance than the...well main romance. Their story is sweet. David is raising his two teenage kids on his own as his wife became disinterested with them and left. Pilar has been cheated on and neglected for years and years before divorcing. The two pair up and seem to get a second chance at love.

Loved his daughter, Maddy. She seemed to be one of the few well-rounded characters in this one. Speaking of which, Sophia isn't my cup of tea. She is similar to a lot of NR's heroines, but for some reason I just could not connect with her. She seemed so distant and annoying. (view spoiler)

Something about this book is just not hitting me right. I love NR and enjoy nearly everything I read by her. Lots of parts were really sweet or hot. It's just that a lot of it was repetitive. The ending was rushed while the middle of the book dragged on and was frustrating, but not in a good way. There were so many bad guys and characters and background information and scandal and etc. It started out really good but eventually I just wasn't reading it. And maybe it had something to do with me being busy with school. I'm not sure, but I can't say whether or not my rating is a fair one or not so I'm going with my judgement. Even when I had spare time, I did not find myself picking up this book and finished it almost with relief. ...more

Good story but not a great story. I thought there were parts that were a little long and other parts should have been explained a bitter more, but otherwise, it was a fun beach read.
