I liked the idea of the book, but I did not like it the whole book was all interviews of people, not actions of the war. Basiclly I wished this book was more like a novel so the reader don't just get only pieces of the story at a time. I only read 80 pages into the book, then stopped.

This was an interesting way to tell an ordinary tale. With the glut of zombie stuff out there, you'd better have something new to bring to the undead table. An after-the-fact interview format isn't a strong enough "new" to make this better than completely average.
As an aside, I was prompted to read this after seeing the mostly terrible Brad Pitt movie. I feel for Mr. Brooks. He must have been incredibly excited to see that Hollywood was making his book into a movie. I have never seen a movie th ...more

When I picked this book up I expected a novel, but what I got instead was a series of very short stories, all with the same writing voice. There are no characters to really care about, no sweeping story arches, no evocative descriptions, but I did like the author's breath of thinking. I liked how the short snippets of story were set all around the world, with different circumstances and different solutions, as if the author viewed the zombie problem from every possible angle.
