Foarte, foarte multe influențe. Tolkien - în primul rând, și după primele pagini credeam că citesc un roman petrecut aproape în același univers. Însă nu doar Tolkien, Robert Jordan amestecă de-a lungul poveștii personaje, eroi, legende, nume și obiecte care definesc fantasy-ul de acest gen. Ai spune că e plin de locuri comune, și deseori așa și este, însă povestea te cucerește.

If I do not compare this book with LOTR books, then it is a solid epic fantasy with lots of great characters, storyline and interesting world building. I love classic sword and sorcery type fantasy so loved it. It is entertaining for sure so I am definitely going to watch the TV show.

But if I also consider LOTR books, which are the best fantasy books I have ever read, then I feel these are just bloated versions of the LOTR books. Nothing seems original or new. All the characters are same, the pl

I really wanted to like this book more than I did. Here is what I did not like:
1. they were literally just running away the first 75% of the novel.
2. there wasn't any build or foreshadowing. a happened then b happened then c happened, fight here, fight there, run here, run there, arrive at destination, big boss fight.
3.The antagonist side of the book was all over the place, but with no consistency: its like 6 different forces all going after one group of people for no apparent reason.

The world building is good & reminds me of Dune, but I wish it could be better written esp. the dialogues.
