An interesting idea, which is used rather obviously to challenge the basis for many assumptions in society.

The story flows along easily enough, but there is little real meat to the story, apart from the critique of religion and human interactions in general. The Neanderthal society is the most interesting component of the novel, with some fun ideas.

The human characters are a little underdeveloped, and the conclusion is a little pat, but it is all good fun.
