What Members Thought

I've never read anything by Weeks before & was pretty impressed. His system of magic was interesting, albeit somewhat confusing at times. Actually, I just went with it when people did magic. Weeks tried hard for a rationale, but there were a few too many rules & ways it was used to make complete sense. I assumed he stayed within them, but doubted it at times. Still, that was minor.

A terrific book. Imaginative, action packed with great characters, an interesting plot, a unique magic system, based on the manipulation of light. Throw in a war, a revolt, duplicity, love, and a boy, mix it all together and the palette is unforgettable.
After a bunch of relativly uninspiring books, this book was just a great fun read.
run to the book store, download it on your kindle, or just take it out ofthe library, like me. You will not be disappointed.

Really good read. I liked that the world was completely different from anything I've read before (everything based on colors). Good characters that I could care about. Although I found Kip's constant bad self image and attitude grating, I could understand the reason behind it. I like Gavin (and I'm eager to find out all of his great purposes are). I even liked many of the secondary characters. Lots of the plots twists that I didn't see coming. Excited to read the next chapter.
