What Members Thought

I read Hyperion 10 years ago and wasn't real impressed. It is essentially a futuristic Canterbury Tales with six pilgrims each telling their stories on the way to see the deadly Shrike and the Time Tombs. But if I remember correctly, the novel simply ends as they reach their destination. The book is more about the individual stories of the pilgrims. Taken alone it was a decent novel, but nothing special. Taken as the first book in the Hyperion Cantos, it sets up everything to come.

The novel follows series of interlocking tales (almost like a series of separate short stories) from a group of travelers on a pilgrimage to the planet Hyperion's Time Tombs, which are moving backwards in time, on the eve of the Ouster invasion of Hyperion.
