Theft of Swords by Michael J. Sullivan is a fun and fast-paced fantasy story that follows many of the traditional fantasy tropes. The novel consists of two books, The Crown Conspiracy and Avenmpartha that are part of volume one of the Riyria Revelations. Both books follow the tales of two thieves who call themselves Riyria.

Light and fun yet generic western fantasy. I found the world building very uninspired and the characters far too competent and gary-stu perfect. There wasn't a plot twist that wasn't telegraphed from a million miles away. And yet I want to continue simply because it was enjoyable to read and the hint that things will become a lot more interesting as the plot and the world-building expand. ...more

Amazing book. I loved the twists to the plot. I like the chemistry between Hadrian and Royce. Very very well done. I like how Hadrian is the heir and Royce is an elf even if both didn't know it for the longest time. I cannot wait to read the rest of the series! ...more
