It was OK (hence 2 stars), long start up for not much of a payoff. Felt vaguely like Sphereland/Flatland for moments, and they were probably the best bits. Not clear on the attraction myself, but it was certainly an easy read.

A very good book. Nice blending of SciFi and dark fantasy. I read it when I was a kid and just read it to my 9-year-old, who really enjoyed it.
