Well that was unexpected.
I don't know how to review this book. But I really loved it.
Just like Too Like the Lighting, this book keeps moving the goal posts. Only right at the end did I realize what this book was, what it was about. It kept setting me up for one story, then delivering a very different idea. Complex and straightforward. Deeper than expected. Oddly funny. I think I will only know what to say about it after a year and a reread.
I suggest you give it a try ...more

What a very strange book! It's definitely fantasy--of the dark, twisted variety. I thought it was very original, but I didn't like many of the characters. Even the ones who I was supposed to be rooting for weren't very likeable. I felt more sorry for them than anything else. I felt like the story had a pretty dark take on humanity. What does it say that the two lions were my favorite characters?
