What Members Thought
How is it than an author can use all the same words as everyone else and write something so incredibly beautiful? Because the beauty of the writing drew me in long before I cared about the characters. I did grow to care for them and admire each one for becoming his or her own true self. It was marvelous!
McKillip weaves motifs and metaphors. Objects feed other descriptions, parallels, echos. Characters contend with their split passions. Magic has a tangible rich feeling. The tale twists, turns, entangles, and ensnares, I was caught by the thorns myself. A new favorite.
