I'm not sure what my obsession with post-apocalyptic lit says about me as a human being. For better or worse, I love this stuff. I've read four of these types of books in the last 9 months...11 if you include the Dark Tower series by Stephen King.

Station Eleven was REALLY well done. It was true to form. Georgia flu strikes, and within a week the modern world collapses. We follow several well developed characters as they struggle to survive. The timeline of the story jumps back to before the flu

Right, so I gave this book 3 stars, but felt it worth maybe 2-1/2. I will say that it was easy to read, easy to follow, was basically interesting as (yet) another dystopian novel. However, I was put off by the focus on a philandering Hollywood movie star and all the people who knew him, and then following their lives before and after the crisis. This book was really unique and creative. It is a standout in the post-apocalyptic genre. It follows a few central characters going back and forth from before the 'apocalypse' (which comes in the form of a flu epidemic) and 20 years after. The back and fourth is brilliantly done and the subtle connection to all the main characters is fantastic. I particularly loved the idea that should an apocalypse-like event occur, there is still hope for humanity.

The book centers on a group of traveling perf

In a worst case scenario played out, a flu epidemic destroys civilization. The story tells of a group of survivors, and how they are all connected.

While contagion and death occurs relatively quickly, I think that the author underestimates the percentage of country folks and survivalists who would see the beginning of the epidemic on TV and hole up until the scenario was over, particularly in rural America.

The plot is relatively simple, and some of the characters are more caricatures than fully f
