What Members Thought
Right, so I gave this book 3 stars, but felt it worth maybe 2-1/2. I will say that it was easy to read, easy to follow, was basically interesting as (yet) another dystopian novel. However, I was put off by the focus on a philandering Hollywood movie star and all the people who knew him, and then following their lives before and after the crisis. I loved the book and I'm sad that the hype discouraged me to read it for so long. This book made me feel every emotion there is: sad, happy, thoughtful, angry, scared, nostalgic, ecstatic and ... you got the picture.
This is a beautifully constructed story that is told from different POVs and going back and forth in time. (view spoiler)

This book was really unique and creative. It is a standout in the post-apocalyptic genre. It follows a few central characters going back and forth from before the 'apocalypse' (which comes in the form of a flu epidemic) and 20 years after. The back and fourth is brilliantly done and the subtle connection to all the main characters is fantastic. I particularly loved the idea that should an apocalypse-like event occur, there is still hope for humanity.
