Howey had a really interesting idea here, but didn't go far enough with it in some ways. Reminded me a lot of The Matrix. Similar to that trilogy, it starts off with a bang, but then loses its way somewhere in the middle. Did like the description of the Silo and its social strata, but couldn't really care for any of the characters.

Here we have another shell on the post-apocalyptic dystopian sci-fi (and a bit steampunky) formula frame. The story is like a grown-up version of the City of Ember, definitely darker and a bit more complex. I enjoyed it, but am really wishing to know MORE. Recommended... If you are as into the post-apocalyptic dystopian sci-fi formula as I am. :)

Super fantastic. So excellent, it almost can't be called just great literature, but a whole phenomenon. The fan based book offshoots are just spectacular. Amazing. Perhaps a new kind of Stephen King.
