To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much with this one. Just your standard run of a mill YA paranormal (I mean, even the cover is a cliche). However, Vincent surprised me.
While this book wasn’t without it’s faults, it was oddly refreshing. Romance aside.

I really think this was a great start to a series. There was a lot of world building going on so it moves a little slow in places but overall I think this will be a fantastic series!

My Soul to take is the first installement of the Soul Screamers Series and My God what an amazing read. I devoured this book in about 10 hours. If I didn't have to eat, look after my son and have toilet breaks (lol) I would have probably finished it alot quicker. It was so addictive and totally different it just gripped my imagination and refused to let go.

I found Rachel Vincent's "My Soul to Take" an enjoyable read and one of my first forays into YA Urban Fantasy reads. The story revolves around Kaylee, a young woman who can sense when someone's about to die. She usually sees the person surrounded in shadows, and has to fight the compulsion to scream in front of the intended victim.
