Lovely holiday story with just the perfect amount of hurt, comfort, sex and love. What a wonderfully giving family - I totally want them in my life. I love how Zach evolved and came into his own with such loving help and I really appreciated that Ben didn't jump into a relationship with him. This is portrayed as a really grown-up relationship and in the end, it and the story was really beautiful.

Finished this story in one sitting. It was sad and touching all at the same time. It's rare that a story moves me to near tears, but this one did. I wanted to take Zach home and keep him safe and at the same time, make Ben move a little faster in claiming the young man.

A well wrote story with memorable characters. Hopw to read many more like this in the future from R.J. Scott. 5 stars all the way! ...more

I really liked it! Even with all of the "big" issues being involved: the violence, homeless teen and the angst that goes along with it, the story had an innocence about it in Ben. He has such a nice, small-town homegrown sense of self that came across really well. It made me put the book on my awww, that's such a sweet read shelf. A very good book for the holidays! ...more

This is one of the most heartwarming Christmas stories I've ever read. It's well told and the characters compelling. If someone can read this book and remain untouched their heart is of stone. This book contains everything I've come to expect from her, believable characters, a strong plot that was well thought out and fully developed in the telling. I loved this book, its perfect for not only Christmas, but all year round. The story is simply a small town Sherif picks up a young runaway on Christmas Eve, and instead of arresting him he takes him home to his mum, gives him a home and helps him decide what he wants to do with his life. Love blossoms between them but in such a way that doesn't impact the integrity of the story. It's a heartwarming story and I can't wait to read more by this author ...more

This is a keeper. A read it over and over-er. The depth of emotion is enthralling. I hope the author writes more about this couple, because it seems that there are many more things to be said, many more relationship obstacles to be overcome.

Fantastic story about a cop and the "throwaway" he rescues. Truly enjoyed meeting Zachary and Ben, and learning about the concept of a "throwaway". The combination of holiday ambiance, family dynamics and loneliness/angst in this book is right down my alley. The romance develops slowly, which made it quite believable for me. I picked up this story expecting an average holiday tale and was blown away by the emotion packed into this lovely story of hope and love. ...more
