What Members Thought
This is a fantastically entertaining collection of short stories that I am very glad to have read. Karen Russell does an excellent job creating unique and compelling characters who I easily understood and empathized with. Many of the stories are surprisingly sad and tragic, and there are several that could easily be expanded into full novels and I was disappointed to see end because I was enjoying them so much. The title story is fantastic. "ZZ's Sleep-Away Camp" also good. The rest are more like impressive flourishes, but blend together and are easily forgotten. George Saunders-y.

I don't know, I just couldn't get into these. Karen Russell has a distinctive style, and I guess I just wasn't feeling it. I liked the title story the best of the bunch.
