Shelves: 2019-reads, fantasy, historical-fiction, owned, classics, crime-and-mystery

I started this book with little to no idea what to expect from it. What I got was a complex mix of magical realism, historical fiction, and political commentary. The language in this book is rich and lovely but requires serious attention. The characters are on evenly drawn with the male characters having far more complexity than the female ones. So I knew that this book was going to be slow. But having to slog through 300 pages to finally get the plot moving is obnoxious, especially when this is a 500 page book.

We follow Daniel, who finds a book in a super secret place (The Cemetery of Forgotten Books) when he's 10 and becomes obsessed with finding more about the author.
