After reading 3 of Cather’s books here are my rankings:
1. Death Comes to the Archbishop
2. My Antonia
3. O Pioneers
My Antonia was a tough read because of the times in which Antonia lived. The two big takeaways I had were: 1. Living in the pioneer times was so hard, not only did they have to contend with a harsh climate, but many of the pioneers didn’t even know the first thing about farming. Beautiful writing with a strong peek into pioneer life in the Midwest, in addition to the universality of human nature... But it was so hard to get through. I wish I didn't feel that way, but I just couldn't get into it. Perhaps that's the casualty of not having read enough classics.
