I was hesitant about this book in the Anita Blake series. No Richard, No Jean-Claude. What is a girl to do. However i found the book moved along quite well and the glimpses into Edward were worth missing out on the other boys, almost.
I enjoyed the deeper magical elements in this book and the slightly unhinged perspective of Anita trying to sort out where she stands not only with Richard and Jean-Claude but with her own powers and her morality. Being away from St Louis for two books now has left ...more

Obsidian Butterfly is by far my favorite book in the whole series. It really has nothing to do with Jean Claude or Richard, and everything to do with Anita. The other bonus is it is centered around Edward which is a character that we don't get to see much of. In this book you really get to know Edward and what he is like in his own territory. I love it. This was the peak of the series.
