What Members Thought

Warning this book may cause whiplash from the crazy twists and turns.
This is a very hard book to review without spoilers because you must experience it for yourself. So I am going to try to give you some thoughts without any spoilers…
It took me a little while to get into this book because the two characters are not very likable, it is told in very well done alternating narratives giving you a background on both of them. Another warning these characters don’t get any more likeable, but once this ...more

Overall this book was suspenseful and thrilling, but not until about half way through was was a little frustrating for me. I didn’t feel like the ending lived up to the hype of the book. For me it was anticlimactic…I don’t want to spoil it for anyone so I’ll just leave it at that.
The novel reminded me so much of a classic noir film…..gritty characters of moral ambiguity, one transgression that spirals out of control that brings on hysteria and paranoia,a femme fatale that will blow your mind, the ...more

This book was highly entertaining, but not without substance. Funny how I sometimes expect those two things to be mutually exclusive. This book explores the danger of mob tendencies as experienced today, through media, social and otherwise. It made me look at public opinion and how it's so carefully constructed by the media; how our world of free information is so taken for granted that often we're only ingesting a fraction of the information available. We make up our minds based on a few news s

Told back and forth between the two main characters Amy and Nick, this dark psychological suspense/mystery keeps you moving with twists and turns until the very end. Did I mention it was dark? It is. Very dark, with two very unlikeable protagonists steering the story. The ugly language throughout is explicit and brutally coarse. This book also suffers from f-word-itis, a common enough ailment that I have found in much contemporary fiction these days. (Some of this type of language is, of course,

This one is hard to review. I have to admit I liked it because I thought the writing was very well done and kept my interest. However, I just thought it was going to be this wonderful whodunit thriller and it kind of let me down. Some other reviewer called it a "descent into madness" and that is a perfect way of putting it.

This book just sucked me in! I loved the character's ....for a while then not so much. But still couldn't put it down had to see .. how does this end?! Then the ending was a let down. I really was disappointed with how it ended. I will see the movie.... will it be rare occasion to say the movie was better than the book..... I hope so. It just had such potential... sigh
